WHO IS AT RISK?
Sleep disorders can be a problem for anyone, regardless of your
physical condition or age. However, if you are overweight, snore
and have hypertension, you may be at a higher risk for a sleep related disorder
Sleep isn’t just “time out” from the activities of daily life, it
is an active state important for renewing your mental and physical health on a daily basis. Each night more than 100 million
Americans fail to get a good night’s sleep.

Who may have a sleep disorder?
The person with a sleep disorder can be the husband who’s snoring keeping his wife awake, the tired shift worker who is on the job at odd hours, the teenager who dozes off at the wheel, the grandfather who walks in his sleep or the groggy child who has difficulty in school. Or it could be you.
In most cases, your problem can be diagnosed after you spend just one night in our sleep center. While visiting the center, you will sleep in a private, home-like environment. A specially trained sleep technician will apply sensors to your body which will detect your level of sleep by measuring brain waves, eye movements, muscle tone, heart rate, respiration to name a few. The technician will monitor your progress during the session and videotape your actions while you sleep to capture any abnormalities observed during the study. The study is painless and designed for your comfort.
While a small number of people suffering from sleep problems
will require surgery or medication, more than 75% are successfully treated without either. With the proper treatment and healthy sleeping habits, you’ll gain energy you never knew you had. Some sleep disorders can actually be cured by losing weight or reducing alcohol consumption. Only a few require medications or surgery. But the majority of patients who breathe abnormally during sleep are safely treated with a positive-pressure breathing device or a small, comfortable oral appliance worn while you sleep called CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) equipment.
Our Facility Offers:
- Comfortably furnished private bedrooms for overnight sleep studies
- Expert CPAP and BIPAP service for sleep apnea patients
- A highly experienced, professional, and polite staff
- Day time sleep studies (MSLT) for narcolepsy patients
Overview of Sleep Disorders
A sleep disorder is a physical and psychological condition or disturbance of sleep and wakefulness caused by abnormalities that occur during sleep or by abnormalities of specific sleep mechanisms.
Some of the most common sleep disorders include:
Sleep apnea and snoring
Snoring loudly is a major symptom of a disorder known as sleep apnea. Individuals with sleep apnea, actually stop breathing hundreds of times during the night, which may reduce oxygen levels in your blood, which potentially could produce a heart attack or stroke.
Insomnia
Do you have a difficult time falling to sleep, or do you wake before you
want to? You may have treatable sleep disorder called insomnia.
Chronic tiredness
Daytime tiredness can be a symptom of sleep apnea, narcolepsy or other treatable sleep disorders.
Many people have occasional problems sleeping. But if you have
constant problems falling asleep or staying asleep, if you’re often tired in the daytime, or if you snore so loudly that others complain, you may have an underlying medical problem that can be effectively treated by a doctor who has been specially trained in sleep medicine.
Here at N.E. Sleep Center, our highly qualified sleep disorder specialists will diagnosis the cause of your disorder in a comfortable relaxing environment.
